NEXTECH PRACTICE 2011 EARNS ADDITIONAL CCHIT® 2011 CERTIFCATION FOR DERMATOLOGY
August 20, 2010 – NexTech Systems Inc. today announced that NexTech’s product NexTech Practice 2011 9.5 is a CCHIT Certified® 2011 Ambulatory EHR, additionally certified for Dermatology, meeting the Certification Commission’s electronic health record (EHR) criteria for office-based use. Ambulatory EHRs are designed for physician offices and clinics where most Americans get their healthcare. The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®)– an independent, nonprofit organization – has been certifying EHRs since 2006.
NexTech Practice 2011 version 9.5 also preliminarily meets 24 of 24 applicable requirements for Eligible Providers published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the Interim Final Rule (IFR) of January 2010. These requirements were revised with the publication of the Final Rule on July 13. Inspection information is available at http://www.cchit.org/products. For the purpose of qualifying products for ARRA incentives, CCHIT anticipates, but has not yet received, accreditation by HHS.
In the CCHIT Certified 2011 program, products are rigorously inspected against integrated EHR functionality, interoperability, and security criteria independently developed by the Commission’s broadly representative, expert work groups, using the Commission’s published testing methods. This program is intended to serve health care providers looking for maximal assurance that a product will meet their complex needs.
As a CCHIT Certified product, NexTech Practice 2011 version 9.5 has been tested and passed inspection of 100 percent of CCHIT’s 2011 Ambulatory EHR and Dermatology criteria.
“NexTech is committed to the fields of Dermatology and Health IT, and is pleased to be the first to offer a Dermatology certified electronic medical record and practice management solution that meets all 24 of the ARRA IFR certified EHR technology criteria, and fulfills the unique needs of a high patient volume, efficient, paperless Dermatology practice,” said Christina Majeed, NexTech’s Vice President of New Products and Technologies.
The CCHIT Certified “seal of approval” for EHR products provides a consensus-based benchmark for ambulatory EHR products. By looking to products with the CCHIT Certified seal, physicians and other providers can reduce their risk in selecting an EHR product, allowing them to focus their evaluation on the special needs of their practices.
