Experience Nextech’s New AI-Driven Innovations at AAO Blog Feature

The past year has been filled with artificial intelligence developments in almost every industry, including healthcare. It’s been reported that the global AI market is forecasted to reach $407 billion by 2027, considerable growth from its estimated $86.9 billion revenue in 2022.

At Nextech, we're excited about the potential AI has to impact specialty healthcare practices. Our team has been methodically developing AI-driven enhancements for our products that will further simplify how our clients deliver excellent patient care. Be among the first to preview what’s in the works with AI and other innovations to Nextech's EHR and practice management solution at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting from Oct. 18-21 in Chicago.

We believe responsible integration of AI in healthcare applications will be a net positive for the entire industry. There's much yet to explore, and AI will never replace the empathy, intuition, and expertise of healthcare workers. But its upside is tremendous, and we're eager to bring these new possibilities to our clients.

What Is AI in Healthcare?

Artificial intelligence is technology with access to large amounts of information, which it can then synthesize and be trained to resolve issues, make recommendations, and spot patterns. Mayo Clinic outlines several applications it can have in the field, such as preventative care screenings, risk assessment, and chronic illness management aid for patients.

Why Should My Practice Use It?

Contrary to what some may think, incorporating AI into healthcare does not take the human touch out of the field. U.S. healthcare is battling staffing shortages at an alarming rate, expected to be nearly 200,000 nurses short by 2031. These shortages make it difficult for personnel to do their jobs and patients to receive the excellent personal care they deserve.

Artificial intelligence helps clinicians from being stretched too thin. Instead, it can support your staff in many ways, such as removing repetitive tasks that slow down the workday and providing resources that lead to faster, more informed decisions with earlier treatment plans for your patients.

How Will Nextech Use AI?

We intend to leverage time-saving efficiencies and better documentation capture powered by AI to restore human compassion to the forefront of care. Nextech’s strategy involves collaboration with established industry authorities plus our own internal expertise and years of experience as an innovator in specialty healthcare technology to develop ethical and responsible AI. Enhancements to our products will help providers deliver more empathetic encounters, make better decisions, and optimize patient engagement and staff workflow.

There are two great opportunities coming up to get a glimpse of Nextech's AI technology that is being piloted. Check out our presentation at the Eyecelerator conference Oct. 17 in Chicago. Sign up here. And be sure to visit Booth 2308 at AAO 2024 from Oct. 18-21 in Chicago.

  • AI Scribe has thorough, provider-managed ambient listening to create automated documentation, which reduces the time spent at the keyboard and allows you to see 2-3 more patients per day.
  • AI Virtual Assistant can automate the majority of routine conversations between patients and staff, allowing patients to reach your practice 24x7 and front desk staff to have more time for personalized patient interactions.

Nextech’s AI innovations can help practices have more efficient processes so providers have more time to deliver even greater care to their patients. Come check it out at AAO on Oct. 18-21 in Chicago and see what else we've been up to.

Schedule a time to demo these exciting features at Booth 2308 here.
