Participation in the MIPS program requires the use of Certified Electronic Health Records Technology (CEHRT). In the program year 2022, eligible providers must use CEHRT that is certified to the 2015 standards. Providers must upgrade to the Cures Update version to participate in MIPS in the 2023 program year.

Not for MIPS. There is no overlap period between the 2015 version and the Cures Act update. All CEHRT versions currently listed on the Certified Health IT Product List website must be upgraded to the Cures Act certified versions or be replaced with the Cures Act certified versions by January 1, 2023. There will no longer be certified software for the 2015 version after December 31, 2022. Clients must use Cures Act certified software in 2023 to participate in MIPS.

The Cures Act defines information blocking as business, technical, and organizational practices that prevent or materially discourage the access, exchange, or use of electronic health information (EHI).

EHR vendors must make the Cures Act updated version available to their customers by January 1, 2023 or risk being excluded from the EHR certification program permanently.

Yes. Nextech has achieved the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC-Health IT) 2015 Edition Cures Update Health IT certification, which goes into effect in 2023. This includes the latest interoperability standards needed to support compliance with the 21st Century Cures Act information-sharing requirements.

The ONC certification ensures patients have seamless and secure access to their health information and is provided to new and existing Nextech customers without additional fees or upcharges.
