Celebrating Career Journeys: Marian Llamas

Let’s get to know Marian Llamas. She’s been part of the Nextech team for six years, a strong indicator of her dedication and drive for continuous growth. When Marian first joined us, she was a business development rep engaged in cold calling and entry-level sales. From there, she transitioned into Sales Engineer and Product Analyst roles and now works as a Product Manager.  

Marian's proactive approach to skill-building stands out. She has completed a Corporate Certified Ophthalmic Assistant course to gain deeper insights into client perspectives as well as pursued classes on Coursera covering accounting, sales engineering, and more. The dedication to understanding her clients' day-to-day lives highlights her commitment to providing them excellent service. 

Marian feels tremendously fortunate to have received support and mentorship from all her managers throughout her journey, especially Brian Gennusa, Curtis Vognet, and Brad Ellis. Their guidance, coupled with motivational challenges, equipped Marian with the tools needed to succeed. Transferable skills such as presentation expertise, public speaking, agility in product development, and sales proficiency have been key in propelling her career forward. 

Marian suggests implementing product certifications and professional courses, possibly through platforms like Coursera, to aid in career development at Nextech. Her own motivation stems from an insatiable curiosity to learn and grow in each role, filling the gaps in her knowledge to better serve clients. Positive feedback and success stories further fuel her drive. 

Her advice for aspiring Nextech career builders emphasizes the importance of being curious and having confidence to ask for what you want, and never hesitating to seek help when needed — a testament to her own approach in carving a successful career path.
