Advancements in healthcare technology have fostered an environment more encouraging for greater patient engagement between patients and providers.
Now it appears both patients and doctors are taking advantage of these opportunities to be more engaged with one another. According to the Patient Engagement Perspectives report from CDW Healthcare, patients and providers are eager for more engagement.
Here are some key findings from the report:
- 57 percent of patients say they have become more engaged with their healthcare during the past two years
- 70 percent of providers have noticed a change in their patients' level of engagement with their own healthcare
- 60 percent of providers say improving patient engagement is a top priority at their organization
- 58 percent of providers report improved engagement with patients in the past two years
As you can see from some of these key findings, patient engagement is not only a top priority for doctors, but for patients as well. And it's working.
But that isn't to say there aren't some issues remaining that are preventing patients and providers from even greater levels of engagement. The report from CDW Healthcare also discovered there are three common roadblocks in regard to engagement:
- Limited office hours
- Slow response time
- Need to repeatedly provide or enter the same information
